Behind the scenes of some Malloni shoots, captured by photographer Maurese, are deeply autobiographical moments set within a family-owned bar. These images landed on the cover of a German magazine. For this occasion, Matete took four portraits of Milanese talents, residents, and key figures of Milan’s cultural scene—close friends and niche brands shaping the scene. VIER, another photographic endeavor, delved into intimate spaces within Milanese homes and eventually made its way to Munich.

It’s said that artists can’t be stylists and architects are people that have to make it serious, yet MATETE, born amidst shops and bars, fell in love with her imperfect, yet refined, fashion. Her work reflects an autobiographical fold—a stitch applied in set design and fashion that embodies a personal touch. Starting with close collaborations with designer AGARW-UD Atelier and her deep connection to fashion, Matete embarked on a journey through a carefully curated archive of "to wear." These aren’t just clothes; they are ready-made pieces—24-hour nights producing archival objects meant to be experienced only once.

The passion for backstage moments and storytelling has become a core part of Matete’s work. In 2024, she began producing videos, images, and projects for the fashion world, capturing lives, talents, and routines. From Milan to Berlin, her narrative unfolds with irony, objects, and studies, reflecting stories that are not hers but shared through errors, naturalness, and the imperfection of a space a no makeup approach. The documentary object slows down the fast-paced, consumptive world, adopting a human and personal rhythm, much like a "Pipistrello - Gae Aulenti," where the lights dim and the rhythm gently fades.

The archives come to life, transforming into a captivating exhibition. These objects from the past carry identities into the present, giving new meaning to history. Matete emerges as a set designer, researcher, video producer, and photographer, crafting exhibitions like a small, meticulous workshop. From Milan to Berlin, she takes the made-in-Italy heritage on a journey for the historic shoe brand Baldinini. This collaboration becomes a vibrant, youthful partnership, evoking dreams, touch, and the desire for timeless, out-of-production footwear.

From the film Beaten Egg, Matete’s friendships with the JFK Orchestra broadened her horizons. Inspired by the group, she began her first vocal experiments along the Martesana canal. In 2024, in the heart of winter, she embarked on a studio project with Trieste-based professional Simon Adams. Previously, Matete had already explored audio in collaborations with publishing station for InCf N2, as well as in commercial projects and workshops. Today, the release of her album Aspetta is eagerly anticipated, along with an exciting new Milanese collaboration.
